The Front-End Developer will be responsible for conceptualizing interfaces, turning whiteboard sketches into working prototypes, and transforming design mockups into user interfaces. This position will design and code for various web-based applications and create code that will integrate seamlessly with other technologies to achieve business goals.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Create and maintain The Children’s Place website,  updating site content inside IBM WebSphere Ecommerce Content Management System
  • Create engaging, usable, and effective technical solutions that work to achieve business goals
  • Design and code themes, layouts, and custom designs for various web-based applications
  • Optimize performance of front-end applications, managing JS, JQuery, HTML/HTML5, and CSS file structures within application to optimize page-load performance and code maintainability
  • Emulate existing HTML schemes and create new ones that will integrate well with existing code
  • Integrate created code with other technologies, including web services, java back-end systems, content management systems, etc.
  • Develop code that upholds web standards, accessibility, and usability while also being fast and efficient
  • Stay current on the latest in front-end development practices and technology (HTML5, CSS3, responsive web design, etc.)
  • Collaborate with backend developers and creative designers to create new site features as needed and to troubleshoot and solve problems


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience with, and exemplary knowledge of, HTML/CSS
  • Experience with IBM WebSphere CMC tool a must
  • Experience developing and troubleshooting cross-browser and device solutions
  • Experience with writing native JavaScript as well as libraries (jQuery)


Skills and Behaviors:

  • Familiarity with best in class web and mobile development practices
  • Knowledge of SharePoint design and development a plus
  • Knowledge of current browsers, their behaviors, differences, and compatibility issues and how to code for them to create a seamless front end user experience
  • Knowledge of web image optimization and compression
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate in technical and non-technical terms with cross-functional partners
  • Must be able to manage relationships with cross-functional partners
  • Strong attention to detail to keep sites as error-free as possible
