The Manager, Sourcing will be responsible for product development, negotiating and placing our seasonal line with factories that meet the company’s established criteria at the best possible cost and with acceptable risk profile. This position will be responsible for the successful outcome of any order placed, including quality, timely delivery, and end cost to the company.  This position must effectively report to the Director of the division and other cross-functional partners, any exceptional issues related to the product development, order placement, or vendor performance throughout the production cycle, and take necessary actions to resolve issues satisfactorily. The candidate must be able to build relationships with both internal and external partners to execute strategic plans.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Implement the global sourcing strategy that meets or exceeds financial and business objectives while adhering to calendar deadlines
  • Proactively drive product development and production calendar deliverables with cross-functional team ensuring on-time delivery of product
  • Liaise with Design and merchants to define our seasonal line while identifying construction and details that can offer cost improvement
  • Strategize initial order placement for each seasonal line, e.g., build cost targets from ‘bottom up,” and proactively analyze costing details and sourcing options for our products
  • Negotiate to meet cost targets without compromising production quality and aesthetics
  • Lead the teams in product approval process ensuring on-time delivery and quality product
  • Maintain vendor partnerships that support the allocation process in an effort to minimize costs and maximize efficiencies
  • Manage and develop vendor and factory base for capacity management and category planning
  • Oversee and develop high performing teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of sourcing processes
  • Overseas travel required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in global sourcing
  • Retail industry experience preferred
  • Manufacturing background preferred
  • Experienced  in product development and production with Accessories product categories
  • Ability to communicate effectively with overseas offices
  • Ability to effectively lead with focus on quality and safety compliance
  • Knowledge of textiles, garment construction/costing a plus
  • Chinese language skills helpful
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; proficient in Lotus Notes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills  
  • Must be detail oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a fast paced environment
