Overview

The Lead Functional Analyst will work within the Database Marketing & Business Intelligence Team of the Marketing Organization. This position reports to the Director of Data Governance and is responsible for managing the development and implementation of data governance projects, strategies, guidelines and recommendations.  The candidate is also responsible for maintaining the quality, completeness, and availability of customer data within the data warehouse, managing complex UAT testing plans, day to day operations of the Data Warehouse load processes as well as identifying and recommending process improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

  • This function requires a mix of business, cross-functional management, database, testing and analytical skills to manage data governance processes and strategies. Responsible for working with the marketing teams to understand the business requirements for data warehouse data processes critical to support marketing programs.  Works collaboratively with IT to define and develop new business processes in support of evolving customer marketing data warehouse needs and to implement approved business functionality. Interfaces with various internal & external business partners to manage supporting vendor processes.

 

  • In this role the chosen candidate will also work directly with several key strategic vendor partners to ensure proper management of customer matching algorithms and firmographic append processes that are essential to the support of the business functions, ensuring the successful delivery of daily updates to the data warehouse while maintaining critical SLA agreements and contractual obligations for processing record limits.

 

  • Support Acxiom customer matching and cleansing processes, consulting with the vendor and IT organization to ensure current processes and future modifications support business needs.

 

  • Work with business users of Unica and Marketing Operations applications to support an environment for optimal email campaign building, working with IT organization and external business partners responsible for the application environment to define data requirements.

 

  • Provides recommendations to the Director of Data Governance for maintaining/improving existing data warehouse processes and for implementing enhancements as approved by the Sr. Leadership within Marketing and must be able to communicate complex ideas and strategies across multiple levels of the organization while fostering collaborating, innovation and accountability.

 

  • Provide guidance to team to follow best practices with regards to gathering business requirements, database objects, data quality, exception handling and metadata.

 

  • Provides testing expertise, defines testing strategies, develops test plans, defines and implements test scripts, manages user acceptance testing, performs data validations/audits and makes recommendations for the approval/implementation of data warehouse production processes. Retrieves data from various sources and prepares data for analysis, verifies data accuracy, performs internal audits, validate audit steps, evaluates data quality.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of  7 years’ experience
  • Practicing application development, retail, marketing, merchandising, decision support systems or business intelligence
  • Experience with Unica, IBM Marketing Operations and SQL is required
  • Cognos, SAS and Tableau experience is a plus.
  • Ability to interface with business users and data architects in order to translate user requirements into data requirements is a must.
  • Must be highly proficient with ANSI SQL.
  • Experience in data warehousing, data modeling and a CRM application is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.B.A.) in Computer Information Systems (related), Mathematics, Statistics or Finance from four-Year College or University required. Masters preferred.

  • Must have proven business experience that demonstrates the successful application/implementation of marketing data warehouse systems.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Experienced in data warehousing following best practice approaches.
