Overview

The IT Manager Warehouse Systems, will be responsible for keeping IT aligned with the business functional areas, driving key project initiatives, and managing the activities of direct reports. This position will maintain and enhance Warehouse Management Systems and communicate directly and frequently with business partners and other application development groups

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and oversee DC systems issues and projects.
  • Ensure proper support and troubleshooting is provided to issues that occur in the DC with WMI and various systems that are in the umbrella of warehouse management (Dematic, Beumer, Pyramid).
  • Maintain, enhance, and oversee system configurations for all warehouse system software instances (production, development and test, etc.); manage all interface issues/projects to and from warehouse management system.
  • Be able to manage medium scale DC systems projects independently from design through completion.
  • Partner with business team to design all required WMi system configurations and modifications.
  • Design lead and subject matter expert for Manhattan’s WMi systems.
  • Be able to seek IT solutions for business/operational challenges in the warehouse management space.
  • Respond to IT requests in a positive, timely manner and provide feedback on expected completion dates
  • Conduct brainstorming sessions with user groups to define user requirements for new systems and upgrades to existing systems; lead requirements definition, development, and implementation of all third party custom programming for warehouse systems (e.g., Manhattan, JDA, UPS, FedEx, etc.)
  • Partner with management in Logistics and Distribution to ensure system requirements are met
  • Work with IT infrastructure teams to maximize efficiency of network configurations and servers dedicated to warehouse systems.
  • Develop and manage warehouse system reporting to assess and optimize system performance
  • Gather user requirements and transform them into system specifications leveraging the existing IT infrastructure (software engineering and architecture)
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships, budgets, and schedule with outside professional service firms
  • Lead and manage team of analysts by providing technical expertise, guidance, and effective delegation.
  • Supervise and mentor direct reports and administer goals and reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with all SOX controls
  • Keep current on new developments in technology and plans for future upgrades and application change
  • Stay abreast of government regulations applicable to system operations and ensure compliance

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience developing and implementing systems
  • Experience with WMS (Manhattan WMi)
  • Experience with warehouse MHE systems, sortation systems and printing systems
  • Experience with Manhattan’s WMOS and Labor Management products preferred
  • Experience managing an application development resources and business analysts resources
  • Experience managing medium scale projects

  Skills and Behaviors:

  • Excellent project management skills
  • Must be familiar with database concepts and design using SQL.
  • Excellent communications skills, appropriate for a broad range including business stakeholders, 3rd party vendors, offshore providers, and technical developers
  • Demonstrated accountability, sound decision making, analytical thoroughness, clear and concise communications, and the ability to lead and mentor team members
  • Ability to independently run and deliver small projects and modifications for the warehouse management applications.
  • Knowledge of modern development languages (Java, C++, etc.) and frameworks (Spring, Rails, Struts)
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that varying IT and business teams may understand
  • Proven customer service delivery capabilities
  • Ability to demonstrate time management and prioritization skills
