  • Overview

    The Director of Production Support & QA is responsible for the operation of the eCommerce application as well as the Quality Assurance discipline. The role ensures the day-to-day operations of the for the eCommerce websites, mobile application and overall change management.  This role will also be the interface for business and customer service teams on application issues.


    • Primarily responsible for the effective operational status and integrity of the highly transactional eCommerce systems
    • Provide Level 3 emergency technical support of all production issues on a 24x7 on-call basis.
    • Manage a team of on-call assignments and frontline duties.
    • Interface with IT and Business partners on support, and change management.
    • Interface with Architecture and Development teams on all eCommerce infrastructure capacity planning.
    • Ensure adherence to production change control policies, identifying opportunities for process improvement and overall efficiency.
    • Ensure proper patch and change management policies and procedures are maintained for all eCommerce environments.
    • Responsible for continuous improvement and optimization of monitoring to ensure 100% uptime of all platforms.
    • Partner with engineering teams to ensure infrastructure required to support new product rollouts and capacity expansions are ready well in-advance of need.
    • Partner with Development and QA teams to ensure environments and supporting changes are ready for code deployments in accordance to the Digital release schedule.

    • Assist in identification of root cause of production issues; assist in driving ICA plan
    • Identify opportunities that can improve efficiency of business processes by utilizing various data points.
    • Investigate and resolve Digital functionality/stability related issues and provide troubleshooting.
    • Coordinate with application development team
    • Assess/evaluate various digital properties monitoring tools. Make Build vs Buy decisions.
    • Manage Digital monitoring tools like Tealeaf, UserReplay, Appdynamics, New Relic
    • Implement automation and improve efficiency of testing.
    • As a part of managing the QA testing team, provide traceability matrix between business requirement and test cases for testing teams.
    • Manage Quality assurance team that performs QA certification for new code releases/production defects



    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field or a combination of related experience and education.
    • Minimum of overall 15+ years of technology experience with at least 5 years hands-on technical roles in the field and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
    • 10+ years of experience managing the day to day operations of a highly transactional eCommerce environment running both physical and virtual servers preferred.
    • Extensive knowledge of data processing, hardware platforms, and enterprise software applications.
    • Technical experience with systems networking, databases, Web development (Java/J2EE/Web technologies), Mobile App development, and user support.
    • 7+ years of experience in omni-channel eCommerce.
    • 2+ years of experience as IT Architect. 
    • 7+ years of experience with: Omniture Reporting; Ovis & Tealeaf web monitoring tool.
    • Subject matter expert level knowledge on various self-service functionalities through omni-channel
    • Knowledge of mobile apps with web services (e.g. REST, JSON, XML)
    • Experience using application performance monitoring tools such as Wiley, ITCAM, AppDynamics, or NewRelic. AppDynamics preferred.
    • Experience with Service Oriented Architecture(SOA) and associated tools like Mulesoft
    • Experience in the development and implementation of standards, procedures and guidelines to support operational processes.
    • Experience using Visio, JIRA & Confluence
    • Experience creating/understanding sequence diagrams & flow charts
    • Familiar with Scrum & waterfall development processes
    • Must be able to work some overtime and provide after-hours support as needed.
